– In the closing laps while battling for third place, another competitor made contact with Mayer. He was able to save the car from spinning and keep it in line for a fifth-place finish.
– It was his sixth top-five finish in seven ARCA starts this season.
– Mayer’s next event will be at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sept. 21 in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.
“I had a blast racing at Salem tonight. It’s such a cool track. We had a fast Chevy Accessories Chevrolet tonight, but I don’t think anyone had anything for Ty (Gibbs, race winner). We had a great test at Lucas Oil Raceway on our way here this week, so hopefully we can come back to Indiana in October and get my first ARCA win. First we have to take care of business in the K&N East Series next weekend at New Hampshire.”
