-Mayer started the 41-lap race from ninth place on the 2.454-mile road course and was eighth when the halfway break came at lap 22. The crew made adjustments to free up Chevy Accessories Chevrolet for the right-hand turns.
-After the adjustments, Mayer starting picking off his competitors. By lap 34 he moved into third place. The race was halted at that point for lightening in the area, followed by rain.
-After the lightning stopped, race officials tried to dry the track, but eventually ended the race shy of the advertised distance. Mayer was credited with third place.
-His next K&N East race will be at the site of his first K&N win this spring at Bristol Motor Speedway on Thursday, August 15.
“This place is a ton of fun and I learned quite a bit. I’ll take a podium finish at a place like this when we are points racing. I can’t thank everyone at GMS Racing and Chevrolet enough for another solid run today. I’m excited for our next race at Bristol since I won there in the spring.”
