– Carson Hocevar competed for KBR Development at the Kalamazoo Speedway, Wednesday, August 7. The ARCA/CRA Super Series sanctioned the 125-lap event, as part of the 27th Annual Kalamazoo Klash.
– Hocevar placed the #14 Scott’s, Berger Chevrolet, Precision Fleet Image car at the top of the speed charts in both practice sessions, besting the stout field of competitors on hand. Carson qualified third and started eighth after a 10-car inversion.
– Hocevar immediately moved forward and into the top four at the drop of the green flag. Contact while racing for third with Brian Campbell would spin the #14 car and draw a caution. Carson got his spot back after Campbell claimed responsibility for the contact.
– Hocevar chased down the leaders on a long green flag run and would get to second while biding his time, before a caution with 60 laps remaining. On the restart, contact with leader John VanDoorn off turn two would cause the 14 to spin. After restarting at the tail, Carson started climbing back through the field, before a failure in the front end sent the car into the outside wall in turn four, ending the day.
“The Kalamazoo Klash was fun, but obviously a disappointing result. KBR Development put together such a fast #14 Precision Fleet Chevrolet, and just was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Got turned around early, but still able to drive to second. Then battling for the lead, made contact and ended our night with our right front coming apart soon after that. Tough night. But having one if not the fastest car is nothing to complain about. Hopefully we can have some better luck soon!”
