– This will be Mayer’s first start at Elko Speedway in any series.
– The GMS team will bring chassis 408 to Elko. This is the same Chevrolet he raced at Pensacola, Salem, Toledo and Madison earlier this year. He finished second at Salem, third at Madison, fifth at Toledo and 15th at Pensacola after a mechanical issue.
– This will be the sixth of eight ARCA races Mayer is scheduled to compete in this season. He will also race at Salem in September and Lucas Oil Raceway in October.
“I haven’t raced for a couple weeks, so I’m ready to get back in the car. I’ve never been to Elko before, but Mardy (Lindley, crew chief) said it’s a lot like Hickory, but smoother. We’ve got a stretch of races coming up in the next month in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, so it will be nice to have four races in a row and race on a more consistent basis.”
