– Mayer started third and remained third at the first break on lap 50. He did not pit and moved up to second on the restart. Mayer grabbed the lead on lap 87 and pulled away from the field for 17 laps.
– He pitted for four tires and fuel during the final break at lap 100. During the restart on lap 104, Mayer initially took the lead, but was run up the track by Chase Cabre who dove inside him. He fell back as far as sixth and had to pit under a caution for a tire rub. He never gave up and worked his way back up to fourth place by the time the race ended on lap 150.
– Mayer remains second in points, but is only two points behind first.
– His next K&N East race will be at Thompson Speedway in Connecticut on June 15.
“We learned a lot today as far as saving tires, getting up through the field and getting passes in. We got run up the track during the restart with 50 to go, but we came back with a solid fourth-place finish today in our Chevy Accessories Chevrolet. I feel like we have a lot of notes and we can go back and watch video to see what we can learn for the next race at Thompson.”
