– Mayer raced in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event at WWT Raceway last year. He started eighth and finished 11th.

– Mayer has some experience at WWTR. He finished 11th in the K&N East race there last year working with his current crew chief, Mardy Lindley. He started eighth and completed all 120 laps.

– The GMS team will bring chassis 409 to WWTR. This is the same Chevrolet his GMS teammate, Sheldon Creed, finished second with at Charlotte in May. It was a new car at Charlotte.

– This will be the fifth of eight ARCA races Mayer is scheduled to compete in this season. He will also race at Elko in July, Salem in September and Lucas Oil Raceway in October.

“Getting to come back to a track like Gateway, where I have experience, helps a lot. Especially at a place as large as Gateway is. I feel like Mardy (Lindley, crew chief) and I are going to be really good this weekend since we raced there together last year. I hope to come away with my first ARCA win on Saturday. We’ve had three top-five finishes in four starts, so we’re getting closer every race.”
