– Mayer started 14th, but was up to sixth by lap 75 and eventually moved into fifth.
– He was eighth at the halfway point at lap 100, and moved up to sixth again until his Chevrolet SS began having fuel pressure issues. The team was unable to resolve the problem in the remaining laps, leaving Mayer in 15th place.
“Our Chevy Accessories SS was hauling the mail once the race got going. We were really good in race trim during practice and we definitely had a top-five car until we started having fuel pressure problems and we really don’t know why. The guys gave me a great car, but they will have to tear it apart when they get back to the shop to figure out the root of the problem. It’s disappointing for sure, but we have a lot of racing ahead of us this season.”
